Justin Perkins is a theater artist based in New York. He creates puppet performances, designs and builds objects for performance, and performs as a puppeteer and actor.
In 2021, he premiered Unicorn Afterlife, a new work of puppet theater, at Dixon Place and online, created with support from Jim Henson Foundation and Jerome Foundation. Recent work as puppeteer at Metropolitan Opera, Harvard University, The Tank NYC, and many video calls.
Justin is a founding curator of Object Movement Puppetry Festival, an annual development residency for new puppet theater. He is also Director of Programs for New Country Day Camp and New Country Pride Camp in Staten Island.
Justin lives in Brooklyn, and was born in New Hampshire, like America’s greatest fictional president, Josiah Bartlett, and America’s worst real president, Franklin Pierce.
He holds degrees in theater from Vassar and Sarah Lawrence Colleges.
